| The Druk
Path Trek is one of the most frequented treks. It is a
fairly short yet exhilarating trek that is both challenging
and rewarding. The views, like most other treks in Bhutan,
are fascinating and exhilarate ones senses, owing to the
incredible beauty and majesty of the Himalayas.
The trek commences from Paro
to Jele Dzong at 2591 meters, from where one can see
the Paro Valley with snow-capped mountains behind. The
trail to Jangchulakha at 2896 meters takes you through
thick alpine forests and rhododendron trees. Follow
the ridge next day to Jimilangtsho at 3353 meters, and
be enthralled with the beautiful views of the mountains
and the surrounding valleys. The Trail to Simkota at
3505 meters leads you through dwarf rhododendron trees
passing by Lake Janetsho. The route to Phajoding at
2896 meters on a clear day allows one beautiful views
of Mount 'Gankhar Punsum'. The final day of the trek
to Thimphu is all downhill through forests of Blue Pine.
Campsites at lakes and the
possible sights of Yak herders en route are the additional
attractions in the trek.
